Design Doha has partnered with the creative hub M7 to present “Arab Design Now,” the central exhibition of Qatar’s newly launched biennial.

Featuring the works of 74 designers and collectives from the Middle East and North Africa, this exhibition showcases a diverse range of creative endeavors.

Launched by Qatar Museums in February, Design Doha aims to become a significant platform for art and culture in the region. “Arab Design Now,” the main exhibition, celebrates the rich cultural heritage and natural resources of the region through various installations, furniture pieces, ornaments, and graphic designs.

One of the standout designs is a prototype by Palestinian designer Samer Selbak, featuring pendant lighting wrapped in natural luffa sponge. Additionally, visitors can experience a meditative installation by Jordanian architect Hiba Shahzada, which includes four wooden columns surrounding a reflective pool topped with a geometric canopy.

Paris-based architecture firm New South contributes an interactive installation featuring stools that users can arrange to create a sacred space, offering an engaging experience for visitors.

Curated by Rana Beiruti, co-founder of Amman Design Week, “Arab Design Now” runs from February 24 to August 5, 2024, at M7, Doha, Qatar. This exhibition showcases the region’s creative ingenuity, blending tradition with innovation to redefine contemporary design.
