In a project called „Dots & Lines” we created a pattern on Boleslawiec plates using a kuka robot. We used an aqua brush as a robot’s tool, because people working in the Boleslawiec factory decorate the pottery mainly by stamping (rarely with a brush). Our project we started with experimenting with a robot. We created a simple program that was supposed to make a random dots on plates. After several attempts, it turned out that the program we wrote, worked differently from what we expected. The result, that come up accidentally, was very interesting to us and became a turning point to our project. We planned to make dots on a plate, but because of unpredictable, diagonal robot movments we ended up making a tear shape. However, that was not the only one surprise. When the robot worked at speed higher than 50%, it shortened it’s movements and created a line instead of tear shapes. Everything was the result of a creative work with the robot and analysis of robot’s movements. Experiments led to creating a dynamic, changing pattern. It became a quite interesting phenomena: the robot’s „teachers” could learn something from it.
