Altostrata by Mamou Mani Architects x Fab.Pub
French architect Arthur Mamou-Mani designed the pioneering Altostrata – Therme Pavilion, crafted using revolutionary 3D printing technology from Fab.Pub. The structural panels of this architectural pavilion were made with an eco-friendly, biodegradable, sugar-based PLA. The building process was also designed to reduce waste and resource consumption and to be easily reconfigured and transported. This new material and design approach to architecture offers a multitude of potential forms and functionalities, going beyond its current purpose.
Designest by Ahmad Alkattan
Architect Ahmad Alkattan created Designest, uniting minimalistic design and modern construction methods to redefine the district’s reputation as a creative space. This unique structure offered its guests a place to congregate and generate ideas. Therefore, offering shade, seating, and even a refuge for non-human animals. Flawlessly balancing privacy with openness, Designest embodied both iconic and unifying characteristics. Paying homage to the historical significance of pigeon towers throughout the Arabian Peninsula, the 3D-printed structure of Glass Reinforced Concrete, and the pigeon nests from reused toilet and kitchen paper rolls; the fertilizers cultivate plants in the district. Designest also boasts a positive environmental impact, further enhancing its productivity and purpose.
The North Star by in5
Nyxo Visionary Design, based in Dubai, created the amazing 4.2 meter high in5 start-up incubator pavilion. This elegant design manifests the productive fusion of technological and architectural elements. Its S-shaped curves are inspired by the traditional Islamic ogee arches. Therefore, lending the pavilion a breathtaking level of morphing openings and interconnectedness. The surfaces, which have 3D printing with thermoplastic, aptly exemplify the adaptive power of in5 and its ability to bring different disciplines together.
