EDIT Napoli 2023’s conclusion proves its prominence in the editorial and author design industries. This was the first time the fair has been hosted at the Archivio di Stato di Napoli, and it drew a massive crowd of visitors. People from all over the world, including professionals, buyers, and press representatives, attended to discover the 100 exhibitors’ designs. Emilia Petruccelli and Domitilla Dardi, founders of EDIT Napoli, stated their satisfaction in the amount of visitors and international presences. Also, the partnerships with European companies for this year. Each successive year the projects presented at EDIT Napoli become more mature.

Awarded projects at EDIT Napoli 2023

This year, awards were presented to recognize outstanding new projects. In the main area, Tracce pouf by ruga.perissinotto was named the winner. This product was developed through research to revive the traditional wool from northeastern Italy and is made up of handcrafted garments created with Alpago and Lamon wool – an eco-friendly and natural material with no need for manufacturing processes or dyeing. In the Seminario section, Giorgio Bena won the prize with his Lockwerk Shelf, which is the second product from the Lockwerk collection.

Drawing inspiration from a form of brutalist classicism, Bena, born in 1995, aimed to create an aesthetic that resembled a workshop rather than an “industrial” furniture design. Additionally, a special mention was given to Rehub’s Nasse collection, your project transforms waste from Murano glass factories into a paste that can be 3D printed at room temperature. Thus generating innovative and sustainable practices. The expert committee, which consisted of Manuela Barretta, a design+art projects manager of YOOX; internationally acclaimed designer Tom Dixon. Furthermore, Marina Lazarus Million-Brodaz, a buyer/design expert from Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche; designer Hannes Peer. Also, Alessandro Valenti, the web director of ELLE Decor Italia, appreciated the awarded projects due to their intelligent designs. Along with profound respect for cultural heritage, ethical and sustainable practices, and balanced pricing structure.

EDIT CULT

The EDIT CULT initiatives, as per usual, brought an extra layer of richness to the three-day program. These initiatives showcased internationally recognized works in iconic locations across Naples for the public to enjoy. Both Italian and international design companies received high amounts of attention for their displays. Agape and Agapecasa showcased “Casa Mangiarotti” at the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation. While Gallery Elena and PSLab teaming up with Altromodo Architects put on the “Materia Prima” exhibit at the same location.

Sabine Marcelis and La Prairie transformed Palazzo Donn’Anna in Posillipo with “The Cobalt House” and the Church Museum of Santa Luciella was the venue for Allegra Hicks’s second installment of her work, “Lucielle”. Palazzo Marigliano housed Pedrali and DWA Design Studio’s “UNICO” project, and the cloister of Santa Maria la Nova was the backdrop of Ranieri’s skillful blend of craftsmanship and design, “Lava”. Last but not least, Fabio Novembre and Feudi di San Gregorio honored maestro Riccardo Dalisi one year after his passing with a special installation celebrating his legacy, held at the Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità.
