The jury of EDIT Napoli 2023 selected MiDA-Lab to be a part of the Young Dutch Titans exhibition, which is a joint effort with the Dutch Embassy and Consulate-General in Italy.

Craftsmen play a significant part in molding the objects they make in addition to being impacted by them. Emerging designer-maker Michela D’Angelo developed MiDA-Lab, which will exhibit two lighting installations for the habitat from October 5–8 at EDIT Napoli in the Seminario Section.

D’Angelo’s education has given her knowledge of a variety of materials. Including steel, bronze, aluminum, glass, wicker, recycled plastics, textiles, and ceramics.

In nations including Italy, Spain, France, Peru, and Netherlands, where she worked with the Nacho Carbonell studio for five years. She obtained practical expertise working alongside regional artisans.

The projects of MiDA-Lab are cross-cultural and cross-temporal. Drawing inspiration from the Nordic tradition of Dutch travelers, traders, and explorers to the Mediterranean regions. These initiatives provide a wide variety of materials a voice and enable them to communicate with one another.

Although the methods used are strongly grounded in tradition, they also reflect the modern need for innovation. Each one-of-a-kind work reflects the personal adventures of the designer, artisan, and entrepreneur, representing the fusion of many cultural backgrounds and interpersonal ties.

The mix of methods and supplies also emphasizes a dedication to sustainability within a circular system. The practical initiatives of MiDA-Lab smoothly blend with Dutch culture and identity. Encouraging exploration at the nexus of art and design in a welcome setting that is culturally diverse.

This philosophy helps to create a diverse and inclusive identity. Similar to other open and culturally diverse cities, Naples embodies a mix of history, arts, languages, senses, and scents.

MiDA-Lab will be featured in the future weeks during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven from October 23-October 29. And at the Passage festival in The Hague from November 17 through November 19.

Visitors are welcome to tour Sectie-c’s numerous workshops, studios, and laboratories during Dutch Design Week. Sectie-c has served as a center for innovation, aspiration, and entrepreneurship since 2010. This offers a special chance to interact with a community of small enterprises, creatives, singers, writers, and artisans that see possibilities rather than restrictions. You can visit Michela D’Angelo’s workshop and submerge yourself in the enchanted world of MiDA-Lab.

Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with designers, craftspeople, and their cutting-edge ideas at the Design Passage festival, which is sponsored by The Embassy of Design. The sale, which takes place in a historic palace in the center of the administrative capital, provides a chance to purchase unusual items that aren’t generally available in shops.

We cordially encourage you to attend these events and fully immerse yourself in the dynamic MiDa-Lab atmosphere.
