The 6th Casablanca International Biennale will take place from December 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, with this edition exceptionally relocating to the coastal city of Essaouira, Morocco. Curated by Marisa Caichiolo under the theme “Fabricating the Impossible,” the biennale explores contemporary artistic practices that challenge conventional ideas of possibility, creativity, and cultural exchange.
The exhibition will bring together more than 80 Moroccan and international artists working across a diverse range of mediums, including installation, photography, video, sound, and performance. The 2026–2027 edition will create a dynamic dialogue between contemporary art, local culture, history, and the unique landscape of Essaouira.
Although temporarily relocated from Casablanca, the biennale continues to preserve its historical identity and artistic roots while expanding its international reach. Its connection with the Ifitry Artists’ Residency and cultural initiatives in Essaouira further strengthens the event’s focus on artistic collaboration, experimentation, and cross-cultural exchange.
