Home » Article Archive » Fran Silvestre Arquitectos: Minimalist Sabater House in Alicante

Designed by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos the Sabater House in Alicante, Spain, stands as a testament to minimalist architecture blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Spread across its 780-square-meter site, this residence is a striking example of architectural elegance and functionality.

Inspired by Local Pathways

Drawing inspiration from the winding paths that carve through the terrain leading to a nearby hermitage, the Sabater House embraces the natural topography of its site. Its elongated, intersecting forms wind through the landscape, adapting to the existing large trees and framing captivating views of the outdoors.

Distinctive Design Features

The design of Sabater House is informed by the client’s desire for a spacious family home that ensures privacy for all members. To fulfill this brief, each floor of the residence serves a distinct purpose. The upper level, dedicated to the “nighttime area,” boasts five bedrooms and bathrooms oriented towards stunning views of the sea.

Seamless Integration of Indoor and Outdoor Spaces

The middle floors of the house feature open-plan living areas with floor-to-ceiling windows that seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor spaces. The elongated floor plan stretches across the site, avoiding compactness and enhancing the connection with nature.

Versatile Interstitial Spaces

One of the notable aspects of Sabater House is the character of its interstitial spaces between the blocks. These spaces, such as the access garden and main terraces, envelop occupants and offer versatile areas to enjoy different orientations of the surroundings.

A Legacy of Minimalist Design

Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, founded in 2005 by architect Fran Silvestre, is renowned for its minimalist approach to architecture. Sabater House is a testament to the studio’s commitment to creating spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally efficient. Fran Silvestre Arquitectos
