Architecture Competition: Show Garden Competition in Seoul 2024

1. Summary of the Event and Competition:

  • Main Event: 10 Days, May 10–May 19, 2024
  • The address is 193 Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea; Ttukseom Hangang Park
  • Theme: Urban, Eclectic Feeling
  • Garden Type: Semi-Permanent Garden (Gardens will be maintained on site after the event finishes) ○ Competition Title: event Garden Competition for Seoul International Garden Show 2024
  • Competition Type: Two kinds (Category to be chosen based on size of garden)

– “Show Garden A”
Key phrase: Gardening for Resilience
Dimensions: 3 Locations, roughly 260◡ each
120 million KRW per site is the budget.

– “Show Garden B”
Key phrase: Everybody’s Garden
Dimensions: 7 Sites, 140□ each
70 million KRW per site is the budget.

2. Eligibility:

Any professionals and experts in related subjects. Refer to the ‘Notice’ that is attached for further details.

3. Schedule of the Competition

  • Announcement: 16 November – 18 December 2023, a total of 33 Days
  • Application Submission: 15 – 18 December 2023, 16:00
  • Initial Screening – First Jury Review: December 21, 2023
  • Three groups for Show Garden A and seven groups for Show Garden B
  • Open Verification for the First Jury Review: December 22, 2023–January 3, 2024
  • First Jury Review Results: January 5, 2024 – Announcement via www.SIGS2024.com, the website of the Seoul International Garden Show
  • Construction of the garden: April 4, 2024–May 3, 2024, 17:00, for a total of 30 days
  • The outcomes of the Second Jury Review will be revealed during the Opening Ceremony on May 7, 2024, at 14:00.
  • Award Ceremony: Opening Ceremony, May 10, 2024

Exhibition of Gardens: 10 May – 31 October 2024. After the major Garden Show events end, gardens will be left in a semi-permanent state.

For more details, refer to the “Notice” that is attached. All dates are subject to change based on the hosts’ and/or the overseeing organization’s needs. In the event that anything changes, the Seoul International Garden Show website will be updated.

4. Jury Committee:

Field experts are assembled by the host or hosts to make up the Jury Committee.

Gardens Exhibition: 10 May – 31 October 2024. Gardens will remain in a semi-permanent status following the conclusion of the main Garden Show events.

See the “Notice” attached for further information. Depending on the demands of the hosts and/or the supervising organization, all dates are subject to change. The Seoul International Garden Show website will be updated if anything changes.

5. Honors & Awards

The Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan City will present certificates of excellence to a total of ten works. Fifty million KRW is the total award money.

– A (3 Teams; each team receives prize money):

Ten million KRW for the Gold Prize, seven million KRW for the Silver Prize, and four million KRW for the Bronze Prize.

– B (7 Teams; each team receives prize money):

Seven million KRW for the gold prize, five million KRW for the silver prize, and three million KRW for the bronze prize
