Swiss construction giant Implenia has secured a series of new contracts in Switzerland and Germany, with a total value of approximately $496 million. The upcoming developments span a range of sectors, including medical research, housing, education, and urban regeneration.

Medical Research Hub in Bern: Merging Five Institutes Under One Roof

At the University of Bern, Implenia has begun construction on a new medical research and training center, located on the northern side of the Inselspital campus. The facility will bring together five institutes of the university’s medical faculty in a single integrated building.

The structure will feature seven above-ground floors and five basement levels, housing laboratories, office spaces, training facilities, and meeting rooms.

Commissioned by the Bern cantonal government, the project is already under way and is scheduled for completion in July 2028.

Residential Project in Zurich: 90 Units with Integrated Commercial Spaces

In the Zurich Oberland region, Implenia will construct eight residential buildings comprising 90 owner-occupied apartments for the Seraina Investment Foundation, a Swiss pension fund. The development will include generous outdoor areas, a shared underground car park, and ground-level commercial units.

Construction is set to begin in the summer of 2025, with project completion targeted for October 2027.

Urban Regeneration in French-speaking Switzerland: From Factory to Mixed-use Hub

In a city located in French-speaking Switzerland, Implenia plans to transform an old industrial factory into a mixed-use development. The building will be repurposed to accommodate residential units, workspaces, and retail areas, offering a revitalized urban function in the heart of the city.

Educational Facilities in Switzerland and Germany

Rounding out the list of awarded contracts, Implenia will also construct two large school buildings, one in Switzerland and the other in Germany, reflecting continued investment in educational infrastructure. Specific locations and timelines for these schools have not yet been disclosed.
