Beautiful Forms of Energy, the theme of the LAGI 2022 Mannheim design competition, offers the chance to integrate renewable energy into the city in ways that enhance human flourishing.

The design competition, which is a component of the 2023 German Bundesgartenschau (BUGA 23), features a range of topics and ideas for inspiration that are in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

How can we re-imagine our energy landscapes so that they bring joy and pleasure to our communities, much like a garden is a productive landscape for nourishment that also brings us joy and pleasure? How can renewable energy beautifully incorporate into daily life such that it is not just a cold, practical technology but a work of art that everyone wants to own?

Land Art Generator Initiative 2022 Mannheim

From April through October 2023, the results of the open-call international design competition will be on display at BUGA 23, where an award ceremony and other public activities will honor the winning concepts and the creative teams who came up with them. Hirmer Publishing will release a stunning hardcover book featuring 70 of the top entries.

Moreover, to propose stunning, sculptural modules that can be plugged into the smart post-carbon city. LAGI 2022 will broaden the public’s perception of what is achievable utilizing current clean energy technologies. We are looking for designs that can exist at different scales at the same time. Such as variations for a small backyard or a large public area that use modular parts or scalable solutions that are consistent in concept and form and that give back regeneratively by producing and storing energy to support a thriving neighborhood.

The design competition gives artists the chance to create a fresh and motivating climate story. One that goes beyond the worry about what might happen to our planet if we don’t take action. Instead, we can describe in detail the magnificent, just, and prosperous future we will bring about via our collaborative efforts. The amazing quality of life of those who will live in a future without carbon is the focus of this. The impetus behind significant change is desire. You possess the secret to releasing that yearning in your capacity as an artist and designer.
