Danish studio BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) is designing the Mandarin Oriental Residences in Abu Dhabi, set to include 226 luxury homes overlooking iconic landmarks such as the Zayed National Museum on Saadiyat Island. Scheduled for completion in 2028, this project blends opulent living with breathtaking views and cultural significance.

Prime Location and Landmark Views

Positioned adjacent to the Zayed National Museum, the residences boast a unique vantage point of the museum’s sculptural, wing-like towers. Residents will also enjoy panoramic views of Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and other cultural marvels, creating a seamless connection between art, culture, and luxurious living.

Architectural Design and Features

The residences are divided into two stepped-block structures, offering each of the 226 homes private terraces that blend indoor and outdoor living. Designed with open-plan interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and earthy material palettes, the homes exude warmth and sophistication. Lillian Wu, a New York-based designer, is curating the interiors, focusing on natural materials like wood and marble, complemented by decorative chandeliers.

Exclusive Amenities

Residents will have access to high-end facilities, including:

  • A spa, gym, and beauty bar.
  • A library, theater, and games room.
  • Private terraces and a rooftop pool overlooking the Zayed National Museum.

A Key Addition to Saadiyat Island

The Mandarin Oriental Residences add to Saadiyat Island’s development as a cultural hub, which includes a performing arts center by Zaha Hadid Architects and a maritime museum by Tadao Ando. Operated by Mandarin Oriental Hotels and developed by Aldar, this project continues the island’s tradition of world-class architectural design.
