Master of Urban Design Lecture: Cid Blanco, Jr

Cid Blanco, Jr. is an architect and concrete planner who graduated from the University of Sao Paulo (1998, Brazil); he earned a Master in Architecture and Urbanism from the São Carlos School of Engineering of the University of Sao Paulo (2006, Brazil) and may be a PhD candidate in Urbanism at the school of Architecture of the University of Lisbon (Portugal). Blanco has served as a specialist in planning and management of programs to scale back urban poverty at the Institute for Housing and concrete Development Studies (2001, Netherlands) and in housing design and development at the Department of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering, Lund (2009, Sweden). He has worked for 15 years publicly administration, working with policies on urban development, housing, strategic planning, social inclusion, citizen participation, communication, and culture at local and national levels. As a consultant, he has worked for national and international governmental institutions, including United Nations agencies and international development banks. He currently works as a senior consultant in sustainable urban planning, management, and public governance on different projects, and coordinates the Agenda 2030 working party of the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) and therefore the Metropolitan Observatory ODS (METRODS).

This lecture is coordinated with the seminar Metropolitan Sustainability: the longer term of Neighborhood Sustainability, taught by lecturer Matthew Bernstine, and is funded by the Master of Urban Design program.
