Meadowhall was established just off Junction 34 of the M1 motorway, on the site of a former steel mill, in 1990.
It covers an area of 1.4 million square feet and includes 290 stores from the best independent and international brands.

Embracing Sheffield’s steel heritage,
it has been revamped with designs inspired by the steel manufacturing process, which are interpreted in abstract ways.
The original center was filled with different sightlines than the current one,
and contained four areas that lacked distinction and poor clarity and direction.
Therefore, BDP, which undertook the renovation work,
designed distinct areas with different finishes and environments for the malls.
Development works at Meadowhall
The development and renovation work consisted of removing columns and arches.
Installing double-height facades and improved flooring, in addition to adding road signs,
signage and distinctive lighting.
The development plans were the largest single investment in Sheffield Meadowhall Shopping Center since its opening more than 25 years ago.
The proposals, worth more than £300 million,
are also one of the largest investments in the Sheffield city region.
Over the course of a decade, it has provided more than 1,000 job opportunities.
Currently, the proposed entertainment hall area is 330,000 square feet.
It added a range of dining and entertainment experiences that were not available in the center.
This included a number of new restaurants,
a state-of-the-art cinema to replace the existing one in the Oasis Dining Quarter,
A new café hall, gym and other leisure spaces can be used to offer everything from restaurants to indoor golf.
Located under an elegant glass roof,
the entertainment hall will merge with the existing center to create a new multi-level,
landscaped mall with high-quality indoor and outdoor spaces for promotional and community uses.
It has also been designed to accommodate large outdoor events including live music.
The entertainment hall will also provide more than 1,000 job opportunities,
in addition to a number of temporary construction jobs.
Meadowhall features 290 shops, 50 food and drink venues,
an 11-screen cinema and 12,000 parking spaces.

Woolley Wood
Woolley Wood has a large variety of trees, some of which are not native,
so it is a great place for children to compare and try to identify the different species.
