The MICROHOME Kingspan 2024/25 competition invites participants to design an off-grid modular dwelling for a hypothetical young professional couple, with a total floor area not exceeding 25 m². This challenge encourages creativity and innovation within compact living spaces.

Design Challenge

Participants are tasked with rethinking spatial organization, introducing distinctive aesthetics, and utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and materials. The goal is to transform the micro home from a simple architectural form into a revolutionary living genre. There are no geographical restrictions on the hypothetical sites, allowing for designs in any urban or rural location worldwide. Emphasis is placed on sustainability and addressing economic, social, and cultural challenges through fresh architectural approaches.

Prizes

3 winning proposals and 3 special award recipients will be selected, with a total of 100,000 € in prize money awarded as follows: 1st Prize – 40,000 € 2nd Prize – 20,000 € 3rd Prize – 10,000 € The Kingspan Award – 10,000 € Buildner Student Award – 10,000 € Buildner Sustainability Award – 10,000 €
