Modern House Estate Agents is Australia’s only estate agency specialising in the sale of Modernist, Mid-Century and contemporary architect-designed houses. They approached us to redefine their online presence through their website. With each house listed for sale, Modern House research the house and its architect, producing a monograph that documents the history and design logic of the house, along with plans and commentary and a bio of the architect. The effort and care Modern House was putting into their offline communications wan’t being translated to online. Starting from a blank slate we worked together to re-imagine how their brilliant content could be delivered online.

The result is a design that is based on modernist design principals; neo-grotesk typography and a strict grid, six columns in this case. These simple starting blocks allowed us to build a structure that supplies Modern House the flexibility to make each individual property listing unique and engaging. The mobile experience is customised, special cases are made for the property listing slideshows, making better use of the available screen space and quicker load times, whilst the homepage is text only and super fast to load as a result.
