New schedules for direct flights from within the Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, with Dhahran,

Saudi Arabia, have been announced as part of recent efforts to promote AlUla as an increasingly popular summer holiday destination.

Under the theme Live the World’s Masterpiece Summer Untold,

the campaign also highlights world-class tourism and entertainment offerings in AlUla,

a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with activities, special trips in the coming months,

and accommodation options.

Saudi Airlines will offer three weekly direct flights from Riyadh to AlUla, starting this month,

and it will increase to five weekly flights as of August 1.

From August 1, visitors from Dammam can fly directly to AlUla on weekdays.

Meanwhile, flynas offers flights between Riyadh and AlUla every Sunday.

Things to do in Al Ula

flynas also offers flights to AlUla from the United Arab Emirates,

departing from Dubai on Fridays and returning flights every Sunday

While the airline plans to increase the frequency of flights by September, in addition,

flydubai offers two flights per week to AlUla on Thursdays and Sundays.

One of the attractions of AlUla is its weather, as it is slightly cooler than other parts of the country during the hot Saudi summer.

As a result, it is a popular location for visitors keen to enjoy outdoor activities such as cycling,

camel riding, swimming and hiking during the day and stargazing at night.

Unique attractions might include Elephant Mountain, or Elephant Rock, a stunning natural rock formation.

Meanwhile, local culture and heritage enthusiasts can sign up for guided tours of historical sites such as Al Hajar,

the Old City of Al Ula, and about a half-dozen other options in and around Dadan, Jebel Luqma, and other sites.

Mountaineering

More adventurous or active visitors might consider going snowboarding,

rock climbing, hiking the Hidden Canyon Trail, or taking in the views from the air on a helicopter tour.

For those who prefer to relax and enjoy a slow-paced vacation,

stargazing remains a favorite activity for many,

and there are also live concerts and other shows to enjoy in Old Market Town.

Visitors can chat and haggle with local vendors or take a tour of the handicraft pavilions in the old city of AlUla,

where nature is the main component of traditional crafts.

Rest and meal times

When it’s time to rest and recharge, visitors can sample the menus at several local restaurants,

including Tama at Habitas, Suhail Old Town, Pink Camel Pastry Boutique and Circolo.

For companies looking for a memorable location for a conference or team-building retreat,

spaces at the majestic Maraya are available for rent.

Recognized in 2020 by the Guinness Book of Records, as the largest reflective building in the world,

it offers a capacity of up to 500 seats and stunning views all around.

Accommodation options include the famous Shaden,

a four-star resort 32 minutes from the airport offering 125 rooms and villas.

And Habitas, a five-star resort 45 minutes from the airport that will reopen July 25 after maintenance.

In addition, Caravan by Habitas offers 22 recreational vehicles.
