Saudi Arabia has officially launched the first operational phase of the Red Sea International Airport. This marks a key milestone in the development of the kingdom’s western coastline, with Red Sea Airport symbolising a step forward for the region. The airport is the first major gateway serving the Red Sea Project. This is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader push to establish itself as a global tourism destination.

A Structure that Mirrors Its Landscape

Designed by the renowned British firm Foster + Partners, the airport blends futuristic form with deep respect for the surrounding desert context. Its five terminal pods, arranged around a central structure, evoke the natural contours of sand dunes. This Red Sea Airport design seamlessly merges architecture with the environment.

Beyond its visual appeal, the airport’s design prioritizes passengers at Red Sea Airport and scalability. This allows for a phased expansion as travel demand to the region grows.

A Defining Moment on Site

The start of operations coincided with the completion of the airport’s first construction phase. Powerful images captured this Red Sea Airport moment. Hundreds of workers and engineers gathered in front of the building’s sweeping glass façade. They celebrated years of work under intense desert conditions.

More than just a ribbon-cutting event, it was a tribute to the thousands of unsung heroes. Their dedication turned an ambitious vision into a reality.

A Sustainable Gateway to Future Tourism

The new terminal is set to handle up to one million passengers annually once fully operational. It also makes history as the first airport in the region to run entirely on renewable energy. This aligns with the goals for Airport and Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sustainable development.

The project is led by Red Sea Global, in coordination with national aviation authorities and international infrastructure consultants managing .
