Schools for Palestine: Mobile Schools as an Emergency Response

Home » Competitions » Schools for Palestine: Mobile Schools as an Emergency Response

Archstorming, in collaboration with the NGO Wallah We Can, is launching an international architecture competition (Schools for Palestine) focused on designing mobile schools in the West Bank. This competition is a response to the urgent need for educational continuity in the face of systematic and intentional demolitions of buildings, including schools, in Palestine.

The Challenge

Participants are tasked with creating innovative designs for mobile, flexible, and modular schools. These schools must be easily dismantled, transported, and reassembled to adapt quickly to the demolition orders frequently issued in the region. The design must incorporate lightweight, durable materials that are easy to transport and assemble. The winning design will serve not only the immediate needs of Palestinian children but also as a model for similar conflict zones around the world.

The Jury

The competition’s jury includes renowned architects such as:

  • Lesley Lokko
  • Sumayya Vally
  • Tosin Oshinowo

Prizes

  • 1st Prize: €6,000 + Project Construction
  • 2nd Prize: €2,000
  • 3rd Prize: €1,000
  • 2 Special Honorable Mentions: €500 each
