Some pictures published recently showed the start of the external cladding work for the bicycle bridge after 80% of the work of installing the main iron structure was completed.
The bridge is located at the intersection of King Khalid Road to the west and Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road to the east.
Sports track project
The Sports Track Project is one of the four major Riyadh projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in March 2019.
This comes in the framework of achieving one of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by raising the ranking of the city of Riyadh among its counterparts in the world’s cities.
In order to encourage residents to follow healthy patterns of movement, and motivate them to practice various sports.
Features of the Sports Track Project
The project extends 135 kilometers, linking Wadi Hanifa in the west of the city and Wadi Al Sulay in the east,
and includes safe and wooded pedestrian paths along the project.
In addition to dedicated bicycle paths for professionals and amateurs,
horse paths, and a group of sports sites.
The sports sites include a sports tower that includes fields for various sports and indoor games,
stables and horse riding tracks.

This is in addition to the project providing approximately 4.2 million square meters of green areas and open areas with an area of more than 3.5 square kilometers.
A desert park with an area of 20 square kilometers, event sites, performance arenas,
open-air theaters and cinema, and investment areas.
In addition to a full range of recreational and commercial activities,
landmarks and artistic works designed to enrich the city’s lifestyle.
The main components of the sports track project:
Wadi Hanifa area
The path extends over Wadi Hanifa for a length of 30 km,
starting from Al-Alab Dam in Diriyah in the north to Medina Road in the south.
It includes paths for amateur and professional riders and wooded paths for pedestrians and horses.
It also includes 7 stations along the valley, containing: various cafes, and stores to serve hikers and athletes,
In addition to bicycle maintenance centers.
Arts District
The area extends east of King Khalid Road for a length of 3 km and includes cultural,
artistic and entertainment activities, in addition to paths for pedestrians, bicycles and horses, and sessions for hikers.
The area also contains centers, museums, libraries, studios, performance arenas,
arts forums, lecture halls, and investment areas.
Wadi Al-Yisan area
It is located on the course of Wadi Al-Yisan from Suwayd bin Haritha Street to the west of King Fahd Road,
with a length of 3.5 km, and a low water canal in the middle.
It also contains pedestrian and bicycle paths, seating areas for picnickers,
and investment areas, and is linked to an overhead path that connects to the King Abdullah Financial Center.
It is located east of King Fahd Road to Othman bin Affan Road, with a length of 4 km,
and includes a 40 km long connected bridge for professional riders and a ground track for amateur riders.
It also includes amphitheaters, a complex for cinematic and theatrical performances, and an open-air cinema.
It contains event sites and interactive sound and light shows,
in addition to children’s playgrounds, parks in the form of natural hills, and open squares softened by water spray.
It includes a group of residential and office buildings and areas designated for investment.
Sports area
It extends from the east of Othman Bin Affan Road to the east of the Airport Road, with a length of 5 km.
It contains playgrounds designated for men and women, and training halls for various sports, including:
Running, golf, boxing, basketball, tennis, badminton, swimming, water polo, climbing, shooting, ice hockey, etc.
The lower floors include a bicycle track, and a closed underground bicycle racing track is located next to the tower.
The area includes 60 sports venues, including: 16 football fields, 18 indoor courts, 12 outdoor basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, and a skating rink.
The area is connected to a path surrounding Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University.
Environmental area
It extends from the east of the Airport Road to Al-Janadriyah Road on Wadi Al-Sulay, with a length of 14 km.
Environmental area contains an elevated track for professional riders, a ground track for amateur riders, and stopping points and rest stops.
It includes areas for teaching plant cultivation and conservation,
recreational areas, and walking and running paths connected to neighboring neighborhoods.
