The 6th edition of The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture’s annual Creativity Conference is set to take place in Ithra, Saudi Arabia from 1st to 4th November 2023 and will be focused on the creative process and the concept of scaling. At this conference, 5 products from Isola’s Routes to Roots exhibition from Tanween 2023 will be featured.

The works on display signify the potential for eco-friendly design when using natural materials and waste, demonstrating how innovation and age-old processes can come together to create one of a kind products. The exhibition space, put together by Resitoglu, includes shapes that are meant to be a metaphor for the bond between humans and their history. This show celebrates those who carry on our traditions and promote sustainability, putting the spotlight on up and coming designers that are bringing a refreshing spin to the design landscape. Participants will learn how small items and processes can become excellent starting points for a new design.

Strata Table Series by Roula Salamoun

Furthering a previous exploration into a series of three-dimensional objects. The Strata table Series by Roula Salamoun has its roots in topographical studies. Looking at the tectonic landscape of cliffs and sea stacks. It investigates the ever-present richness of textures and colors revealed in the stratification of dissimilar topographical layers. Shaped by earth, water and wind but also man-made actions. Inviting the user to imagine how they came to be.

Each and every piece is hand casted utilizing resin and natural marble, applied using an intuitive molding application. To translate the rich hues of the natural realm. While respecting the environment, Salamoun meticulously selected natural stones, unconsumed by the construction industry. Each product is unique as natural color and texture variation may occur from one edition to the next.
