The design of the tea café within the cave-like walls has a surreal atmosphere,
Juti Architects elevated the tea-drinking experience to a surreal atmosphere within the cave-like walls and walls of Bangkok, Thailand.
The 51 square meter tea house was named KSANA Tea House.
It is wrapped with fiberglass cavern walls,
CNC-molded and scraped to give the interior an artistic and sculptural appearance.
The project, designed for Ksana matcha green tea brand, is located in
Within OCC Extension, a large office building in the heart of Bangkok.
The main tea shop is the first branch of the brand in this building.
Ksana is a brand of matcha green tea imported from Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture.
The word ‘Ksana’ comes from Sanskrit, meaning a short period of time.
Or balance, which is the root of the word “ขณะ” (ka-na) or “moment” in Thai,
and the root of the Japanese word “刹那” (setsuna) meaning time.
After tasting the brand’s high-quality matcha, the designers decided to create a brand story that captures the moment.
And it’s a moment that seems to have escaped chaos so that we can experience Matcha’s unique taste and aroma.
And this kind of experience will put us at ease and finally reach true peace and balance.
The interior space also features a small entrance, a seating area in the middle, safes,
a cash desk and wooden tables.
Seating all around the white walls.
Design features
The studio started the design process by designing the brand’s logo and packaging.
Regarding the two dimensions: time and space, so he chose SUNDIAL,
which is an object that can represent time and space,
Including the shadow, an effect that changes over time as a design concept for the logo.
As for the packaging, the studio used images of nature that not only convey the taste of the tea,
it also reflects the dimension of where the taste of tea can lead the drinker away from the chaos.
In terms of the atmospheric interior design, the architects aimed to create a
“deeper sensing memory” of brand imagery that wouldn’t appear in color, shape, or texture – it should have been reflected more.
The interiors are designed as a “surreal minimalist atmosphere”
to provide an escape from the chaos in various ways dependent on the environment and context of the construction site.
