Back to the future and restoring the classic 1990s Lamborghini Diablo hypercar into a retro-futuristic vehicle with a 3D-printed titanium body, Emanuel Colombini of Eccentrica Cars and Milan-based design studio BorromeodeSilva present Eccentrica Lamborghini Diablo.
To think of the 90s is to think of the iconic Diablo – a car that balances perfection and imperfection.
“The Diablo was my dream car as a kid – I remember it shiny and red on the cover of Quattroruote. At the time, it was the supercar that broke all speed records!
I had the opportunity to test a Diablo GT which I then added to my collection and that’s when I realized that a Diablo made usable with today’s mechanics and components could be a one-of-a-kind car with unparalleled driving dynamics – I called it, and still do, a 600hp go-kart.
If you add to the mix its timeless and specific design combined with a 5700 cc naturally aspirated V12 engine. There was no way we weren’t getting a masterpiece!” shares Colombini.
Elevating the look and feel, this resto-mod Lamborghini Diablo borrows its revamped design cues from the sporty Diablo GTR.
Aggressive, yet refined and produced in just 19 custom models – they overhauled the bodywork of the car except for the windshield, and with its proportions redesigned, the body is crafted with titanium utilizing 3D printing technology.
“For those of us who grew up in the 90s – the Diablo is not only a car but a genuine icon that represents all of the enthusiasm and ambition one can dream of in life.
Our work has enhanced the appropriate balance between size and performance, taking inspiration from the Diablo GTR.
The vehicle’s original proportions have been taken to the extreme and everything has been enhanced by a series of eye-catching details – both on the exterior and the interiors of the car – leveraging high-quality materials and aiming at creating a fierce hypercar!” BorromeodeSilva adds.
Ensuring lightness, rigidity, and a more robust build – it’s a feature that Colombini and BorromeodeSilva wanted to spotlight right down to the pop-down headlights which give this revamped hypercar a retro-futuristic style.
Effortlessly embodying the minimalism of the early 1990s and providing the user with an intuitive, comfortable, and safe driving experience. Furthermore, they transformed the steering wheel and dashboard with a more modern visual along with deep-blue seats.
For the upholstery, a complex blend of materials from leather to Alcantara is used to offer lightness, breathability, and grip.
Furthermore, The center tunnel and internal door trim are constructed of the same materials, all sourced and made in Italy.
Additionally, the driving start has been created as an authentic ritual to be enjoyed to the end. Mreover, a sequence that nods to 1990’s video games and films such as Top Gun.
For the technical development – engineering experts were tapped to fit the restored hypercar with premium Pirelli tires. Brembo braking system, Marantz audio system as well as the Capristo exhaust system.
According to the design team – in its first virtual simulations, this restored Lamborghini Diablo performs like a real hypercar with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, a top speed of 335 km/h, and a lateral acceleration of curves of 1.2g.
Moreover, Putting one in complete control and enhancing the driving experience with every shift, the original 5.7-liter V12 engine. It also includes technical enhancements including new valves and camshafts. Resulting in an increase in maximum power of 550HP at 7,000 rpm and maximum torque of 600Nm at 6,5000 rpm.
Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires – which are ideal track tires for road use – were the go-to choice for this restored hypercar and the braking system designed by Brembo includes a system that will allow the finished vehicle to brake from 100 Km/h to 0 in just 34 meters – 7 meters less compared to the original model.
