The Missing Room: A Symbiotic Pavilion Where Fire, Water, and Nature Converge
In the regenerating forests of a former Piedmont vineyard, Carroccera Collective has unveiled *The Missing Room*—a demountable stainless steel pavilion anchored by a seven-metre chimney that blurs the lines between domestic ritual and wild landscape. Designed as a transient intervention, the structure reimagines human-nature symbiosis through fire, water, and adaptive reuse.

Fluid Boundaries: Fire, Water, and Domesticity:-
The pavilion’s compact layout orbits the chimney, fostering intimacy between elemental forces. A sunken bath for three—convertible into a stargazing platform—shares space with an open kitchen and interconnected water channels. Users manipulate plugs to divert
Steel instead of cement: Respect for nature:-
The group chose stainless steel instead of cement to minimize the environmental footprint, and to ensure that the structure can be completely removed without leaving a permanent trace. “We are guests in nature,”** explains the group, **“so we want our designs to be temporary and unobtrusive.” Despite the advantages of concrete, such as its durability and ability to store heat, the group ruled it out due to its carbon footprint and the difficulty of removing it without disturbing the site.

Redefining everyday rituals:-
From cooking bread in the traditional oven to taking a hot bath with wood-fired hot water, the suite becomes a laboratory for new everyday experiences. **“The Lost Room is not just a dwelling, but a portal to an alternative time,”** adds the collective, where the distinction between controlled environment and untamed nature dissolves.
The Carrochera Collective was founded in 2023 as an initiative that aims to challenge the boundaries between man and nature through design. Its pavilion remains a testament to its vision: An architecture that gently appears and then disappears, leaving the forest to remake itself anew.
