VERTICAL ODYSSEY MISSION II
BY I-REEL
.
As part of their global campaign, Ulysse Nardin asked our agency to create contents showcasing three news products within a strong visual and narrative universe. While recalling the marine universe of the brand, our concept is based on Ulysse Nardin's global 2022 communication theme: The Vertical Odyssey.
Contents created for this film will also be adapted for their Watches and Wonders 2022 booth and the social media assets. As the timepieces were not ready for live action shooting everything had to be CGI made.
Rose gold and Aventurine had to be used as these materials are common to the 3 watches.Wedecided to divide the film in three chapters–each one revealing one of the masterpieces: Freak X Aventurine, Moonstruck and Freak S.

FREAK X
.

In order to create a concept that would use the idea of verticality, we structured our setup space on the vertical axis going from the earth –the sea surface-to the sun passing through the moon. Like a symbol of elevation, this main movement allowed us to present the 3 watches from the simplest to the most complicated.

MOONSTRUCK
.
To help visually translate the concept of verticality, we used split screens. These very graphic compositions,at the limit of abstraction, allowed us to draw parallels between watches and our history. By isolating the main components and innovations of each watch, we have thus highlighted them, made them even more majestic. However, the watch is always shown whole in full screen.

FREAK S
.
Starting from the color of each watch, we chose to link them to three planets and to use each one to give specific mood and color to each film. While creating each film sequences we strictly obsvervedthis codeas you can see in the still images below: blue and rose gold for the Freak X / Sea, black& white for the Moonstruck / the Moon, gold with a gold explosion that over run the screen for Freak S / Sun.
.
The soundtrack was a decisive element of our story–we decided to use acontemplative and majestic rhythm, a music that leaves room for images and silence. We wanted to bring in very deep male voice in order to give an “earthly” sound in an almost spiritual sense, close to tribal songs. And finish with more high-pitched and spatial voices.
