Architecture Competition:Urban Design Challenge

Urban planning and design have the power to fundamentally alter the environment in which we live by influencing and facilitating how we use public places. Students from all around the nation are encouraged to enter the Urban Design Challenge and submit design ideas for locations in the National Capital Region.

Pupils are invited to express their imaginative ideas and let their imaginations run wild for the LeBreton Flats Park District. Moreover, This 10-hectare plot spans from the Bayview LRT Station in the west to Nepean Inlet and the aqueduct in the east and is situated 1.5 km from Parliament Hill in the western downtown core of Canada’s capital city.

Students can submit creative planning and design concepts for the LeBreton Flats Parks District as part of this competition. This also serves as inspiration for upcoming parklands consultations. It is available to Canadian students studying planning, architecture, environmental design, urban design, or landscape architecture who are enrolled at a post-secondary institution. Teams can have a maximum of three individuals.

Furthermore, The project team that wins will travel to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, and receive a $750 first-place award. The winning team will receive $500 as the second-place prize.

On May 23, 2024, at a special awards presentation session of the NCC’s Urbanism Lab. Also, the winning team will be invited to present their ideas.
