William Fairnington created Rotor, a dual orientational record player concept with a brilliant manufactured twist.

USA-based ‘Rotor’ is a conceptual dual orientational record player with intelligent technology that skillfully delivers an industrialized twist to modern turntable aesthetics, created by William Fairnington.

Instead of fitting into the home, this futuristic object can make a dramatic statement.

“With the raw mechanical forms of modern EV motor internals serving as inspiration for this object, Rotor delivers an appearance that motorheads will like while providing audiophiles with the same delight through its refined sound,” adds Fairnington.

Linear shape repetition, bare-metal finishes, and the emphasis on fasteners and jointure; all play a crucial part in determining its direction.

Six copper coil-inspired speaker modules emanate from the interior wall of the turntable while sustaining the center shaft; radially composted within the middle of this eclectic design.

Because they have no touch with the table or wall on which you put this object. These modules appear to float within Rotor’s outer shell.

It includes a condensed belt-driven vinyl mat to promote the exhibiting of internals.

Because of the reduced scale of the vinyl mat, a threaded cap and spindle are used to secure the selected vinyl into place regardless of orientation.

“To create this piece, you need metal manufacturing methods such as machining, casting, and forging.

However, due to the complexity of certain of the components; we will commission several construction methods to obtain the desired outcome,” Fairnington adds.
