✦ ArchUp Competition Review
The “A House for Zaha Hadid 2026” competition is organized by ICARCH because the jury does not reveal their members thus making their activities less visible to the public. The design exercise exists as an open-ended conceptual challenge which does not qualify as professional or academic competition because it lacks implementation capabilities. The organization provides no cash awards because its only rewards consist of publication and exhibition opportunities which benefit participants through portfolio development and intellectual learning. The competition allows open registration to all participants because it has no entry limitations, but the organization lacks specific jury details and assessment standards which show that it values creative ideas more than actual professional evaluation.
Conclusion
The competition provides a conceptual platform which does not deliver a practical brief because it requires participants to explore their artistic ideas without regard to technical limitations. The open-ended nature of the project allows people to think about Hadid’s architectural legacy and upcoming design trends and the way designers should blend optimism with critical thinking. The competition functions as a speculative design exercise in architectural creativity because it lacks a public jury establishment and it does not award material prizes.
