A8 Design Center Competition | Wuhan Highline Park & Landscape Structure

Home » Competitions » A8 Design Center Competition | Wuhan Highline Park & Landscape Structure

This competition, jointly initiated by A8 Design Center, Wide Horizon Landscape Center, and Wide Horizon Wuhan Division, aims to transform an existing municipal ramp bridge and design a connected landscape structure. After the ramp bridge’s municipal traffic function is cancelled, it is expected to convert into an aerial urban greenway integrated into the large park system. The vertical traffic line of the landscape structure will connect the urban elevated greenway interface with the ground park, creating a flexible, user-friendly space that transitions from rapid urban traffic to the ground park system and serves as a display interface for the city’s riverside expressway.

The competition’s key objectives are to design the High Line Park and the Landscape Structure as a cohesive unit to form a natural transition. The facade of the High Line Park should serve as an engaging interface for the city’s riverside, addressing functional needs while creating an interesting space. The Landscape Structure should be distinctive and recognizable, combining functional elements to provide a unique experience. It must be under 20 meters in height and serve as a vertical transportation hub with interactive and entertainment functions at the bottom, a middle section connected to the Mountain Garden Landscape Bridge, and a top section designed for distant views.
