Zaha Hadid Architects has opened an exhibition that explores the firm’s 15-year evolutionary work in China.
Since the opening of ZHA’s first office in China.
Entitled The New World, the exhibition is now on view at the Guardian Art Center in Beijing until October 3, 2023.
It marks a milestone and celebrates their 15-year journey in China.
The New World Expo reveals the company’s work and research in the interrelated fields of urbanism and architecture.
This demonstrates how ZHA’s work integrates advances in design and construction technologies around the world.
As described by ZHA, the company’s work “responds to the growing complexities of contemporary life with fluid engineering grounded in the logic
and coherence of structures and systems within the natural world.”
ZHA has redefined architecture for the 21st century with a portfolio of projects that have captured imaginations all over the world.
Deeply rooted in Zaha Hadid’s revolutionary explorations and research,
the late Zaha Hadid set the context for the new world, for the first time.
In 1983, Zaha Hadid explained, “The rapid development of technology
and our ever-changing lifestyles have created a fundamentally new and delightful backdrop for architecture.
And in this new global context I felt we must re-investigate the aborted and unexamined experiences of modernity,
Not to revive it but to unveil new ideas.”
Within the context of this new world that Hadid defined twenty years ago,
the New World exhibition details ZHA’s development and work since opening its first office in China.
Gallery sections
The exhibition, divided into ten areas, showcases the development and future of ZHA architecture showcasing specific aspects of their work.
Among these works, there is the Guangzhou Opera House, completed in 2010,
which was the first ZHA building in China.
Since then, 14 other flagship Chinese projects have opened, including the iconic Leeza SOHO Tower in Beijing and Daxing International Airport as flagship projects.
Moreover, the exhibition displays 25 ZHA projects across the country that are currently under development.
The exhibition also looks to the future by focusing on the ZHA’s detailed research and interdisciplinary approach to their work.
For example, the availability of new digital design tools, robotics, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality.
A snapshot of how ZHA was designed and built.
In addition, the exhibition highlights the company’s captivating strength in handling
the development of competencies in design, construction techniques and materials,
that reduce the environmental impact of architecture while improving the performance of each building.
