In 2023, Bentley Motors promoted a journey throughout Scandinavia, which revolved around architecture and design. This trip included a visit to Wingardhs’ forest hotel in Sweden and a tour of BIG’s studio in Copenhagen.
In 2023, Bentley offered its customers a unique, curated experience: the Extraordinary Journey Scandinavia tour. Participants were able to explore attractive destinations from the comfort of the company’s luxury cars.
Guests were welcomed with a chauffeur-driven Bentley to the opulent Ett Hem hotel in Stockholm as the start of a five-day and four-night tour. The globally-acclaimed hotel is renowned for its excellence.
The initial evening’s accommodation was the Ett Hem hotel located in Stockholm.
Moreover, The hotel is reputed for blending opulence with a homely ambiance, giving rise to environments that invite guests to kick back and socialize as if they were at an estate. The interiors were imaginatively created by designer Ilse Crawford.
On the first day, the hotel arranged a reception, a dinner in the library, and a nightcap for the group of visitors, providing an opportunity for them to get acquainted.
At the start of the second day, those present had the opportunity to take the driver’s seat of one of the Bentley models presented and set off southward. Therefore, passing through Sweden’s wooded areas and encountering Scandinavia’s most revered architecture and design sites along the route.
On the second day of the event, those in attendance visited Naturehouse for lunch.
During the tour, the group took a break for lunch at Naturehouse, a Tailor Made Arkitekter-designed spa near a lake that displays the architectural amalgamation of a barn and a greenhouse. Afterward, they headed off to Trakt Forest Hotel in Smaland.
Created by Wingardh architecture studio, the luxury hotel offers only five suites that are perched up in the trees on stilts, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of nature.
The design of the suites reflects “sustainability, materiality, and innovation” according to Bentley, and visitors had the opportunity to unwind in the sauna or hot tub prior to attending the drinks reception hosted by Sandra and Mattias Salleteg, the hotel proprietors.
The evening was highlighted by dinner in a nearby woodland, cooked up by Michelin-starred chef Niklas Ekstedt. The meal celebrated the coming together of natural ingredients, combining to form something more than just the sum of its components.
At midday on the third day, the group gathered at Wanas Hotel and Sculpture Park for the meal.
On the third day, the group drove southwards, passing through Sweden’s forestscapes. Also stopped for lunch at the Wanas Hotel and Sculpture Park. This hotel was built with two formerly stone barns, whose interiors were designed by Kristina Wachtmeister.
Next, they traveled along Malmo before crossing the Öresund Bridge, the longest bridge in all of Europe, which links Sweden and Denmark. To reach the destination of Copenhagen, they then switched to a chauffeur-driven vehicle for the remainder of the ride.
Furthermore, Visitors staying at the Nimb Hotel in Tivoli Gardens had a great chance to experience Copenhagen. From dining at an acclaimed Nordic restaurant to taking part in a city tour organized by the Danish Architecture Centre.
On the fourth day, visitors had the opportunity to go on a tour of the Bjarke Ingels Group’s studio, followed by a delicious lunch.
The experience included a guided tour of the Bjarke Ingels Group’s headquarters, presented by one of their staff. The office was the setting for a lunch, referred to as the “beating heart” of the workspace.
In 2024, the Extraordinary Journey of Bentley Motors will be taking place in the UK. Starting at their home in Crewe, the trip will take passengers on a scenic route to The Macallan Estate in Scotland over two dates – 19 to 22 August and 2 to 5 September.
