Reflections of Another Realm in Bower’s New Showroom
When you’re in a mystical frame of mind—cue the winter solstice—mirrors start to feel like portals. Bower Studios’ latest Moongate series embraces this concept, evoking a sense of mystery and adventure. Inspired by outdoor passageways found in traditional Chinese gardens, these large wall mirrors transport any space into something otherworldly. Their effect is even more pronounced in Bower’s newly redesigned showroom, where they both complement and contrast with the studio’s classic collections, creating an ambiance that feels far removed from Brooklyn.

“It was time for a refresh,” says Danny Giannella, co-founder and design director of Bower. “We have some upcoming new work, so it made sense to make some changes. And with change, we thought we might as well level up.” The showroom reflects this evolution, both figuratively and literally. Platforms at varying heights create depth, enhancing the dreamlike quality of their designs. Their Melt collection, known for its pieces that appear to slither off their pedestals, feels even more surreal, while their Contour collection’s slatted and curved designs gain new dimension. Bower’s signature mirrors reflect color and texture throughout the space, while a richly textured rug grounds the showroom in warmth. A smaller, fully carpeted room in deep blood-red adds a moody contrast.

“There are little surreal touches sprinkled throughout, like the river pebbles filling the middle section of our meeting table,” says Giannella. These details are not just visual—they are sensory. Running your fingers over the cool pebbles creates an ASMR-like effect. Meanwhile, the meeting table chairs, with their tubular metal frames, may seem corporate at first glance, but their plush, furry seats nod to both Méret Oppenheim and Marcel Breuer.

This time around, Bower has expanded its vision, curating a space that feels both uncanny and inviting. “We treated the space more like a loft than our previous showrooms, which had been exclusively furnished with Bower pieces,” Giannella explains. “It was fun finding vintage pieces, lighting, and artwork that complemented our designs, making the space feel balanced and livable. We plan on keeping our eyes open to rotate vintage finds, paintings, and any elements that bring an evolving flavor to our space.”
