Completed concrete museum with pitched roof in China,

We Live Architects have completed a concrete museum featuring

a pitched roof overlooking fields of sorghum in the Jiangjin district of Chongqing, China.

Named after the Earth Museum, the project is located in a site,

which is a typical village in the southwest in the hilly terrain.

The museum was developed as part of a larger master plan and is one of the new buildings along with other facilities.

Including Land Tavern, Flower House, Field Store, Field Toilet, Snail Garden and Scene Entrance.

We Live Architects were commissioned to transform Countryside into a new village to serve the local community.

The museum is used as a multifunctional gallery with its distinctive appearance of the roof in the fields of sorghum.

Design features

Joybo is a private label brand which is especially popular in the young fashion group of inner-city people.

And their interests turn slightly to the countryside, as does the whole of society.

The studio aims to create a new atmosphere in the ancient environment by using the modern design method,

To build a contemporary country experience different from the usual urban life or rural life,

and to explore a new possibility for the development of the country.

We encourage people to come not only to change the physical environment

but also to change the inner world,

And return to nature from the body to the mind, get rid of nature and enjoy.

Outline

There is a small stream that flows into a main river with flat lands around it,

and many peninsulas are located along the banks of the river.

Based on the contextual parameters,

the architects preferred to locate architecture and functional areas on this peninsula,

to create a special experience path like ‘Island Hopping’,

Which brings exchange experience from different unique scenes

and at the same time maintains the independence and purity of different functional areas.

There is no preconceived notion of what a country is supposed to look like,

but architects focus on what kind of space these peninsulas are best suited to.

To speak with the natural environment with the most original geometry of the space,

creating a comfortable contrast together with diversity.
