Create interiors with saturated red beams and columns for a tea house,

EK Design has created an interior with saturated red beams and columns for a tea house in Shenzhen, China.

Inspired by Chinese tea culture, the studio takes cues from Yiwu’s red soil with a saturated color that resembles Pu’er tea.

Adopting a constructivist approach,

the interiors present an artistic look with the beauty of calligraphy and painting, creating a spiritual connection.

The 200 square meter space has been named Pure Nftea.

And it was reinterpreted as a sketch of tea culture through contrasts.

Tea has been out of fashion among young people for some time, and for companies in the tea sector,

How to breathe new life into tea and get people interested in understanding and consuming it has become a priority.

How do you win youth? In other words, how do you attract them?

Raise conflicts and contradictions to urge interests

Pure Nftea is a tea brand located in Future City C, Futian District, Shenzhen.

Owned by a young businessman whose family has been in the tea business for decades,

with their own tea plantation and factory,

The brand name “Pure” is a transliteration of the word “Pu’er”.

As a young individual, the client hopes to interpret tea culture in a new way,

and to challenge young people’s perceptions of Chinese tea,

Introduce tea to the younger generation, and create a trendy tea drink brand that appeals to them.

The team aims to allow tea culture to speak to young people rather than asking them to learn more about it.

To this end, EK Design creatively reinterpreted the space by revamping the spatial layout and combining new ideas with old structures.

By making use of the land of tea, the design team has also transformed traditional spatial experiences and created a dynamic clash that attracts and engages younger generations in tea culture.”

The space also consists of indoor and outdoor areas, both of which have a triangular horizontal plane.

In terms of spatial relations, the tea shop and shopping mall where they sit mutually attract traffic.

Therefore, designers had more challenges creating an independent style,

but also more freedom to put inspiration into practice, which means more openness, freedom and creativity.
