Athens Biennale 2027
2 April، 2027 @ 8:00 am - 27 June، 2027 @ 5:00 pm

The 8th Athens Biennale, titled “STASIS/EKSTASIS,” will take place from April 2 to June 27, 2027, at the former Public Tobacco Factory of the Hellenic Parliament in Athens, Greece. Curated by Thiago de Paula Souza with artistic direction by Poka-Yio, the biennale will explore the tension between stillness and transformation, examining how individuals and societies respond to moments of uncertainty, disruption, and change.
The exhibition will address themes including displacement, intimacy, fear, and political imagination, bringing together contemporary artistic practices that reflect on different forms of movement, resistance, and transformation. The former Tobacco Factory will provide a distinctive setting for the exhibition, connecting contemporary art with Athens’ social, political, and architectural history.
The 8th edition also marks a new institutional phase for the Athens Biennale, following two decades of operation as an independent initiative, opening a new chapter in the development of one of Greece’s prominent contemporary art events.
