20th International Architecture Exhibition – Venice Biennale 2027
The 20th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale 2027 is one of the world’s leading events dedicated to contemporary architecture, design, and urban thinking. It will take place in Venice from May 8 to November 21, 2027, with a pre-opening on May 6–7.
Titled “Do Architecture — For the Possibility of Coexistence Facing a Real Reality,” the exhibition is curated by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu of Amateur Architecture Studio.
The exhibition explores how architecture can respond to the realities of our contemporary world by focusing on local materials, traditional craftsmanship, reuse, cultural memory, and physical experience rather than purely digital or commercial approaches.
A central theme is coexistence—between people and nature, traditional building knowledge and modern technology, and cultural heritage and future challenges such as climate change and artificial intelligence.
The exhibition will take place primarily across Venice’s historic Giardini and Arsenale, including the restored Central Pavilion, alongside national pavilions and collateral events throughout the city. Visitors will experience architectural projects and interventions that engage directly with Venice’s unique historical and physical environment.
Overall, the 2027 Venice Architecture Biennale invites visitors to rethink the role of architecture in creating a more sustainable and culturally connected future, asking how buildings, communities, nature, tradition, and technology can coexist in a rapidly changing world.
