Future Plastic Design Award

The Future Plastic Design Award, organized in collaboration with Desall, invites creative talents worldwide to design innovative furniture elements. These designs will be produced through injection molding using a single mold, maximizing manufacturing efficiency while emphasizing functionality and aesthetics.

Contest Overview

Participants are tasked with creating furniture pieces that combine contemporary design with practicality. The products will be disassembled for compact packaging, ensuring reduced dimensions for online sales and intuitive assembly by the user. The competition encourages the use of plastic, including recycled materials, to promote sustainability.

Design and Technical Requirements

Product Categories: Furniture (chairs, tables, shelves) and accessories for home use. Products can be utilized in indoor or outdoor contexts.
Style: Minimalist, modern, and sophisticated designs that emphasize high-quality finishes. Avoid low-cost aesthetics, ensuring a balance of beauty and functionality.
Functionality: Quick and intuitive assembly using interlocking systems. Components may be interchangeable, allowing customization options.
Production: Injection molding with a single multi-cavity mold. Parts must minimize depth (Z-axis) to optimize production.
Materials: Entirely plastic, with the possibility of using recycled materials or co-molding with other materials for innovative solutions.

Submission Details

Timeline:
- Upload Phase: 5 December 2024 – 6 May 2025
- Concept Review: 20 January 2025
- Winner Announcement: By July 2025
Eligibility: Open to participants aged 18 and above of any nationality.
Award:
- Winner: €6000
- Extra Award: €2000 for the economic exploitation license of non-winning proposals.
Required Materials: Up to 5 images (960x720px, RGB, max 1MB each) and a .zip file containing high-resolution images and 3D files.
