Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced plans to develop the line in NEOM on Monday.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the prince said that the design will clarify the internal structure of the multi-layered city.
It addresses the problems of traditional flat horizontal cities, and achieves harmony between urban development and nature conservation.

His Highness Prince Mohammed launched the idea and the initial vision for the city that redefines the concept of urban development and what the cities of the future should look like in January 2021.
According to the Crown Prince, they strive in NEOM to be at the forefront of providing new and innovative solutions, and today they are determined to implement the idea of ”build to the top”.
Through a team led by NEOM and a group of the brightest minds,
during last Monday’s announcement, Prince Mohammed said,
this line will achieve “ideal living” and address the urgent challenges facing humanity.

He said: “NEOM is one of the most important projects of the Saudi Vision 2030,
and the line is a confirmation of our firm commitment to presenting a project to the whole world.
NEOM is a place for those who dream of a better tomorrow.”
The Line‘s designs also embody what urban communities will look like in the future in an environment free of roads, cars and emissions.
The project, which introduces a new approach to urban design,
will run on 100% renewable energy and prioritize people’s health.
The idea of layering the city vertically, giving people the ability to move seamlessly in three dimensions to reach them is a concept referred to as Zero Gravity Urbanism.
According to a design plan revealed on Monday, The Line will have an external mirror façade,
which will give the chassis its own unique character.
Even its small footprint allows it to blend in with nature,
while the interior will be designed to create “extraordinary experiences and magical moments”.
The line will eventually accommodate 9 million residents and will be built on an area of 34 square kilometers,
which is unheard of when compared to other cities of similar capacity.
The line will be constructed by a team of world-renowned architects, led by NEOM,
to develop this revolutionary concept of the city of the future.
The perfect climate inside the building will also ensure that, all year round,
residents can enjoy the surrounding nature while walking around.
Residents will also be able to access all facilities at The Line within a five-minute walk.
