1. Title:

International Competition for the (New) Agricultural Resources Management Institute in Gyeongsangbuk-do, S.Korea.

2. Context of the Competition:

– To increase productivity, the direct institutions in Gyeongsangbuk-do and business locations will also be moved once the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Office relocates in February 2016 from Buk-gu in Daegu Metropolitan City to Gyeongbukdocheong New Town in Andong and Yecheon.

– In addition, Based on the pertinent study, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Resource Management Institute produces and distributes premium local seeds. It is made up of the Sericulture Insect Institute in Sangju, the branch institute in Uiseong, and the main institute in Daegu.

– Moreover, the newly founded Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Resource Management Institute will turn into a new government office building that unites the main and branch institutes and is built on the extended site of the present Uiseong branch.

– Furthermore, The evaluation committee concluded that none of the submissions satisfy the competition’s objectives and guidelines after a thorough debate about choosing the winners. Therefore, since no winners have been chosen, a new round of the tournament will be held.

3. Details of the competition:

– Site address: 898, Hyoje-RI, Danbuk-myeon, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do

544,937 square meters (current competition site: 39,555 square meters)

– Additionally, One new building has a total floor area of 6,040 m2 (allowable within 5%).

– The approximated cost of design: 735,400,000 KRW (VAT, certification costs, licensing costs, guaranteed liability insurance included)

– Furthermore, Competition Period: Monday, August 8, 2022, through Monday, October 17, 2022

– Design Period: 7 months starting on the start date (licensing period and holidays included, and is subject to change depending on the situation)

4. Goals

– This design competition’s goals are to generate and select a creative design for the creation of optimized spaces and facilities for the production and distribution of high-quality seeds in the area, to set the stage for potential advancements in advanced and scientific agriculture, and to create a new, forward-looking Agricultural Resource Management Institute.

5. Qualification

– Architects from Korea and outside who are licensed under the applicable law.

– Moreover, Participants should create a collaborative group with an architect qualified for 1 if they are not qualified for 1 by the participation registration date. If so, the individual who meets the requirements for 1 shall serve as the joint group’s spokesperson.

– A person who has created and declared an architectural firm by Article 23 Paragraph 1 of Korea’s “Certified Architects Act,” is unqualified, and engages in regular activities linked to architecture.

– Furthermore, the joint group representative will oversee and act as a mediator for the design development, construction document, design execution, and other related tasks.
– The list of joint participants for the joint application must be complete before the entry is submitted. The joint partners must all be architects—Korean or foreign—and must consist of no more than three firms.

The representative of the joint group won’t necessarily meet the requirements listed in 1. Still, they are the owner of any legal rights, obligations, and liabilities relating to the competition.

– Contestants who have registered to participate in the design competition as representatives or participants may not join another design.

1st Place Winner / (1 entry) Certificate of the award and the priority negotiation rights for the design development and construction document
2nd Place Winner / (1 entry) Certificate of the award and 28 mils KRW
3rd Place Winner / (1 entry) Certificate of the award and 21 mils KRW
4th Place Winner / (1 entry) Certificate of the award and 14 mils KRW
5th Place Winner / (1 entry) Certificate of the award and 7 mils KRW
