King Abdullah International Airport: New Gateway to the World

The new King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport project in Jazan continues to make remarkable progress. Engineer Ali Masrahi, CEO of the Second Airports Cluster Company, confirmed that the completion rate has reached 77%.

The project spans an area of ​​48 million square meters and is a fundamental pillar for enhancing air connectivity and supporting economic and tourism development in the region.

Prince Mohammed bin Nasser, Governor of Jazan Region, inspected the project, praising the quality of implementation and adherence to the schedule.

A Marine-Inspired Design

The airport features an architectural design inspired by the marine environment, with its shell-like roof, reflecting the beauty of the Red Sea.

It includes a 57,000-square-meter passenger terminal equipped with 12 departure gates, 10 aircraft bridges, and 32 check-in counters.

It also includes 2,000 parking spaces, four waiting lounges, and a smart baggage handling system that can handle 400 bags per hour. Facilities include a duty-free shopping area, international restaurants, and a museum showcasing Jazan’s heritage.

With a capacity of 3.6 million passengers annually, the airport aims to meet the growing demand for travel.

It is located near Jazan Basic Industries City and the Aramco Refinery, enhancing its role in supporting industries and investments.

It consists of 39 expandable buildings, featuring sustainable technologies such as energy-efficient cooling systems and smart resource management, achieving 4.5 million work hours without a lost time injury.

King Abdullah International Airport: Supporting Tourism and Vision 2030

The airport is part of Vision 2030, promoting tourism through its proximity to the Farasan Islands and the waterfront.

It provides job opportunities for local talent, with training programs for Jazan’s youth, enhancing social development.

The airport also supports cultural and sporting events in the region, such as the Jazan Winter Festival, attracting visitors from within and outside the Kingdom.

Prince Mohammed bin Nasser has directed that work be accelerated to ensure the airport’s timely opening, making it a global gateway that reflects Jazan’s ambitions.
