Competition Brief

Lison Winery Competition 2026 is an international architecture competition organized by Terraviva Competitions. The competition requires participants to create a modern boutique winery that will operate on the historic Ca Rossa farm in eastern Veneto Italy. The brief invites proposals that go beyond functional production and instead reimagine the winery as a place for hospitality, wine tasting, and experiential engagement with landscape and architectural heritage.

Intent

The intent is to encourage designers to reinterpret an abandoned agricultural complex, blending rural heritage with contemporary architectural language in a way that fosters sensory discovery and cultural experience.

Purpose

The purpose is to generate conceptually rich proposals that integrate interior and exterior solutions, landscape design, circulation, and programmatic elements that connect the building to its vineyard context.

Requirements

Participants must submit two A1 horizontal panels and a brief descriptive text outlining their design proposal. Submission materials should reflect a coherent architectural response that respects the site’s identity while reconfiguring spatial layouts and open areas.

Jury

The jury includes architects and designers who have achieved international recognition through their work in multiple architectural and design fields. The confirmed members of the panel include Daniel Kaven from William Kaven, Patrizia Pisaniello from Microscape, Keelan P Kaiser from California Baptist University, Ella Meliksetian from West 8, Sang Dae Lee from UNITEDLAB Associates, Laura Buka from Oppenheim Architecture, Waris Sinsuebpol from Rangsit University and Lorenzo Abate from LC2A Studio.

✦ ArchUp Competition Review

The organization of The Lison Winery Competition 2026 belongs to Terraviva Competitions which operates with an international jury that consists of certified architects and designers who have earned public recognition. The competition requires participants to develop their designs for a historic agricultural site while the competition itself functions as a professional design competition that will not guarantee any work to be carried out. The international competition registration fees remain at moderate levels while participants receive primarily symbolic awards that include minimal cash prizes for their efforts. Participants gain practical advantages through portfolio creation and conceptual research while they study rural architectural traditions. The jury possesses verified expertise which includes various fields to establish their professional assessment.

Conclusion

The Lison Winery Competition 2026 serves as an artistic research study which examines both rural heritage and contemporary architectural design. The project aims to convert an agricultural facility into a cultural and hospitality space which presents an interesting thematic obstacle. The competition requires all international competitors to pay different registration fees which create financial difficulties for single participants. The presence of internationally recognized jurors enhances the competition’s credibility but the lack of confirmed project execution and subsequent work means that the competition functions mainly as a method for building professional portfolios and testing ideas.
