A major achievement in the Sports Track Project
The Board of Directors of the Sports Track Foundation, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – announced the opening of the first phase of the project, which includes five main destinations.
So far, 83 kilometers of the total targeted distances have been implemented, with the overall completion rate of the project reaching 40%.
The importance of the project in achieving Vision 2030
The Sports Track is one of the major projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – on March 19, 2019, with the aim of enhancing Riyadh’s global position as an ideal city to live in.
The project contributes to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by enhancing the physical and psychological health of society, and providing a sustainable environment for practicing sports activities.

Details of the five destinations in the first phase
- Wadi Hanifa destination
Extends 13.4 kilometers from Al-Alab Dam in the north to Jeddah Road in the south, and includes paths for pedestrians, bicycles and horses, in addition to wooded areas and rest stops.
- Promenade destination
Extends 4 kilometers, and is characterized by its designs inspired by Salmani architecture, and includes bicycle paths for professionals and amateurs, in addition to green spaces and recreational facilities.
- Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road and Prince Turki Al-Awwal Road intersection
Includes the Arts Tower, an artistic landmark inspired by high-voltage towers, which adds an aesthetic touch to the project.
- Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University internal track
It is 20 kilometers long, and provides paths for bicycles and pedestrians, which contributes to enhancing mobility within the university campus.
- Al Ramal Sports Park
Located southeast of King Khalid International Airport, it contains mountain bike and horse trails, and extends over 45 kilometers with the rehabilitation of 350,000 square meters of sand dunes.

Project progress and upcoming phases
Work continues on the Prince Turki I Road Tunnel, which aims to improve traffic flow, in addition to developing the King Abdulaziz Road Tunnel and the Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Road Tunnel. The five destinations will be open to visitors starting February 27, 2025.

The first phase of the Riyadh Sports Track Project, which includes 5 main destinations with a length of 83 kilometers, has been opened, achieving a completion rate of 40%. The project aims to enhance the quality of life and support Vision 2030 by providing a suitable environment for practicing sports. The destinations include Wadi Hanifa, the Promenade, Princess Noura University, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Intersection, and Al Ramal Sports Park. The remaining phases are scheduled to be completed soon, with the five destinations opening to the public starting February 27, 2025.
