A Mayfair office has been furnished by London studio Oskar Kohnen with mid-century modern and contemporary objects that “are so well curated that no one would ever dare to throw them away”.

The office is located in a rectilinear building with a gridded front in the Mayfair neighborhood of London, spanning three levels.

The office, which Oskar Kohnen, the founder of the company, created for developer Crosstree Real Estate, “has a townhouse feeling,” he told Dezeen.

Kohnen installed sconce lights to the ground floor entrance hall to softly lighten the area. The hall was formerly covered in dark-stained hardwood paneling.

In one corner sat an ethereal Djinn sofa, created in 1965 by industrial designer Olivier Mourge.

“We worked a lot with vintage furniture, and as for the new pieces we sourced, we hope they are so well curated that no one would ever dare to throw them away,” stated Kohnen.

The first level features a living room-style environment with “warm and inviting” decor that stand in stark contrast to the building’s industrial façade.

Beside white-stained brise soleil screens and a vibrant resin coffee table stood an L-shaped velvet and stainless-steel sofa completed in a burnt orange color.

“The social spaces have an earthy and calm colour palette – yet they are lush and dramatic,” said Kohnen.

This area also includes two low-slung 1955 Gianfranco Frattini armchairs. Floor to ceiling glass leads to a terrace in the domestic style, broken up by potted plants.

The other rooms on this level were decorated with similar colors and materials.

Furthermore, Among these areas are a meeting room with a red gridded ceiling juxtaposed against cream-colored panels and minimalist black seats, and a kitchen featuring modern terrazzo countertops.

The main office is located on the second level, along with a conference room/library area that shares the same reddish tones as the dimly lighted entrance hall. The office is furnished with rows of timber desks.
