Pape Info Point Competition

Buildner, in partnership with Pape Nature Park and WWF, presents the Pape Info Point competition, which invites participants to design a modular, transportable education stand. This stand will effectively promote Pape Nature Park and its conservation efforts, adaptable for busy public spaces, events, or even remote forest locations.

Pape Nature Park, supported by Pasaules Dabas Fonds and associated with WWF, is a biodiversity hotspot located in southwestern Latvia, spanning 10,886 hectares. The park encompasses bogs, meadows, and dunes surrounding Lake Pape, playing a vital role in the conservation of diverse ecosystems. It hosts significant populations of migratory birds and large herbivores, such as wild horses, auroxen, and bison.

Participants are tasked with creating the Pape Info Point as a small-scale architectural piece that embodies the conservation and education efforts of the park. The design should utilize architecture as a storytelling method, conveying the park’s message through both its form and the information displayed. The stand must be visually appealing, modular, secure, and mobile, constructed from sustainable materials. It should be easy to assemble and disassemble, ensuring minimal effort for setup and takedown while engaging and educating the public about the park’s natural beauty and conservation efforts. Winning projects will be constructed, bringing the best Pape Info Point ideas to life.

This competition is open to all, requiring no professional qualifications. Participants can develop design proposals individually or in teams of up to four members. All correspondence with the organizers must be conducted in English, and all submissions must also be in English.

Prizes

The competition has a prize fund of 7,000 €. The first-place winner will receive 3,000 €, the second-place winner will receive 1,500 €, and the third-place winner will receive 1,000 €. Additionally, there are awards for students and sustainability, along with several honorable mentions and certificates for outstanding performances.
