Mexican architecture firm Heryco renovated a residential building with layers of arches clad in lime-painted stucco in Carretas Querétaro México.

The name Carretas, the building with an area of 550 square meters, has been renovated.

Originally built in the 1990s, as a renovation project, it is located in a family-friendly,

pedestrian-friendly residential neighborhood of Queretaro, near the famous Queretaro Canal and its views.

Deep layers of arches washed in soft pink add character to the building, while creating an exploration of the building.

Post renovation, the apartment consists of four spacious three bedroom apartments, each with a study,

ideal for families and professionals looking for a modern and functional space.

Heryco designed an architectural office on the ground floor,

aiming to make it more attractive by being directly connected to the street and serving as a key element of the building.

Since the building was so old, the old building system made it very difficult for the architects.

“During the renovation of the building, we encountered some unexpected challenges,

such as the old construction system used in the building structure,” said Heryco.

This system, which is based on steel beams and lightweight concrete slabs,

He limited our options for rebuilding and prevented us from demolishing the separation walls.”

Since the building was so old, the old building system made it very difficult for the architects.

The team used “Nanocal” lime-dyed plaster to cover the entire facade and courtyards.

The building structure was reinforced because the entire roof slab structure was corroded and required uncovering,

cleaning, treatment and reinforcement from below.

In this renovation, the studio prioritized the comfort of the residents,

By installing an efficient heating system and ensuring optimum water pressure at all times.

“We have also opened terraces to enjoy canal views and installed high-quality furniture and mattresses

to ensure the comfort and convenience of the residents,” said the studio.

“To complement the modern aesthetics of the building, we incorporated artworks from various Mexican artists,

creating a unique and sophisticated atmosphere.

According to the architects, this renovation project becomes a great example

of how architecture can transform spaces and improve people’s quality of life.
