Romantic Cabin For Two
The 2021 Romantic Cabin for Two competition sought a small accommodation building for two guests at Earth Energies Sanctuary in New Zealand. The original brief described the property as a 200-acre retreat. The competition has closed; the dates below record its original schedule.
The brief described an existing two-bedroom guest cabin on the property. The proposed building was intended to complement that accommodation while offering privacy and a connection to the surrounding landscape.
Organised by Bee Breeders in partnership with Earth Energies New Zealand, this was their second competition together, following the Tiny Kiwi Meditation Cabin competition.
The requested accommodation was an open-plan retreat for two guests. Its programme differed from the Tiny Kiwi brief, which called for a space for short meditation sessions rather than an overnight stay.
The original brief linked the proposal to intended construction and asked participants to consider green-building practices and the effects of construction and operation on the local environment.
