Competition Brief

The MUSE Hotel Awards 2026 is an annual international recognition programme organised by the International Awards Associate (IAA) under the MUSE Awards umbrella. The programme honours excellence across two primary tracks: Hotel, which recognises outstanding operational hotels and resorts worldwide; and Hospitality Design, which recognises architectural design, interior design, and landscape design work within the hospitality sector. Season 2 of the 2026 programme is currently open with an early bird deadline of 14 May 2026 and a final extension deadline of 13 August 2026.

The programme is open to hoteliers, hotel developers, builders, interior designers, architects, public relations firms, advertising agencies, travel agencies, and all professionals directly or indirectly related to the hospitality industry. Hotels under development may be entered at any stage if planning approval has been granted.

Intent

The 2026 theme is “Crowning Achievements,” framing the awards as a celebration of visionaries, architects, designers, and hoteliers shaping the future of modern hospitality. The Hospitality Design track is directly relevant to architecture and design practice: it covers architectural design of hotels and resorts, interior design across all hospitality typologies from luxury to budget and heritage, landscape design for hotels and resorts, and the full spectrum of spatial and environmental work that defines a guest experience. Judging for the Hospitality Design track is blind and scored 1-100 across five criteria: Creativity, Originality and Concept; Content, Brief, Objective, Planning and Execution; Innovation and Technology; Quality, Functionality and Sustainability; and Overall Impression.

Categories

The Hotel track covers categories including city hotels, luxury hotels, boutique hotels, resort types, airport hotels, eco hotels, design hotels, heritage hotels, wedding hotels, and new hotel categories. The Hospitality Design track covers Architectural Design (including experiential resort design, eco-resort design, adaptive reuse of heritage buildings, and new hotel architecture), Interior Design (covering lobby design, guestroom design, suite design, F&B interior, spa and wellness interiors, budget hotel interiors, business hotel interiors, beach resort design, ski resort interiors, and more), and Landscape Design (including urban oasis and city hotel landscaping, resort landscape, and rooftop garden design).

Requirements

Entry brief of approximately 350 words. Images in flattened JPEG or JPG format, under 4MB, 1,200px wide preferred, 300dpi, RGB. Video or audio submitted via direct Vimeo, YouTube, or Youku URL. Non-English entries must include a written translation. All submissions are made online at musehotelawards.com.

Jury

The jury is drawn from IAA’s Grand Jury Panel of over 200 international judges. Featured jurors for 2026 include Ramina Yadgar Khachi (Founder and CEO, GŌ Beauty), Aldina Duarte Ramos (President, SPOON AND SPOON AGENCY, France), and Sinong Wu (Founder, Chengdu Sinong Creative Packaging Design, China). The full jury panel is listed at musehotelawards.com/our-judge.php. Judging is blind and all entrant information is removed before evaluation.

✦ ArchUp Competition Review

The MUSE Hotel Awards is part of the same IAA commercial awards infrastructure as MUSE Design Awards, which we have already reviewed. The structural characteristics are identical: blind judging on a 1-100 scale, no acceptance fees upon winning, five-year website publication, tiered recognition levels, and a fee model in the mid-to-high range for commercial awards platforms. The Hospitality Design track is the component most directly relevant to architecture and interior design practice, covering architectural hotel design, interior design across all hospitality typologies, and landscape design for hotels and resorts. The category range within Hospitality Design is broad and well-structured, acknowledging that hospitality architecture spans from heritage adaptive reuse to new-build luxury resorts to budget hotel interiors. The early bird fee of $209 USD for Hospitality Design entries is the most accessible entry point. The Hotel track at $450 early bird targets hotels as businesses rather than design practices, and its judging criteria include brand reputation and social media presence alongside physical design, which reflects a different evaluation model. For architects and interior designers with hospitality projects seeking international online recognition and publication, the Hospitality Design track offers a structured and operationally reliable entry point within the IAA platform’s broad but commercially active ecosystem. The limitations noted in the MUSE Design Awards review apply here equally: the jury is partially published, the platform spans 34 programmes, and all prizes are recognition-based with no cash component. The booking platform integration (Agoda, Booking.com, Trivago) for hotel-track winners is a hospitality-specific benefit with no equivalent in other MUSE programmes.

Final Thoughts

MUSE Hotel Awards 2026 Season 2 is open across Hotel and Hospitality Design tracks with an early bird deadline of 14 May 2026. Hospitality Design entries start at $209 USD early bird. No cash prizes and no acceptance fees upon winning. Results announced 16 October 2026. Enter at musehotelawards.com or contact info@musehotelawards.com.
