ABOUT
Sirena is a brand new pizza spot in Dnipro, the place it’s bought each by slice or complete. The small space of 58 sq. m (together with the kitchen space) comfortably accommodates as much as 14 friends. Pizza may also be ordered to remove or on supply.
The pizzeria is positioned in a full of life place, on Sichovykh Striltsiv Road within the historic middle of Dnipro. That is an space with its personal distinctive gastronomic tradition: a number of standard cafes and eating places function close to Sirena.
SPACE
Beforehand, a special avenue meals spot was positioned right here. Given the constrained finances, our activity was to contemplate tips on how to use and adapt what was left of it.
The primary problem was the technical side of the design: we needed to implement a brand new lighting community idea and reorganize air flow on the premise of current engineering networks.
CONCEPT
Sirena is an genuine cafe with a definite native aptitude. It is a place the place all the things has its personal story: from the steel playing cards that used to brighten the ceiling of the put up workplace, to the furnishings and mosaics that appear to be they have been taken instantly from a Home of Tradition or a Soviet public eating corridor.
The inside of Sirena is straightforward and clear. We eliminated a lot of the inappropriately luxurious decor left over from the earlier institution and tailored it to the brand new idea the place doable. For instance, the marble counter, like those utilized in Brooklyn pizzerias, organically match into the entourage of Sirena.
DESIGN
Inside
The area is split right into a eating space (24 sq. m), kitchen space, technical rooms, and a small rest room. A service space and an open kitchen are positioned to the left of the doorway. At first, the shopper deliberate to put in a small oven however finally settled on a bigger one for baking 4 massive pizzas without delay. In an effort to match this oven into the kitchen zone, the already put in serving counter needed to be dismantled and barely moved additional into the corridor.
The seating space in Sirena is non-standard: linear, positioned alongside the size of the pizzeria, and turned to face the facade home windows. This enabled us to create a visible connection between the area and the road: passers-by see what is occurring contained in the restaurant, and friends of the pizzeria observe the town life.
Given the fast-food format of the pizzeria, we used agency, onerous seating: one can sit within the corridor on propro chairs, picket benches, or semi-bar stools. We built-in mosaic panels made from tile fragments into the tough picket counter tops.
An necessary accent within the inside was the mosaic panel by the artists EtchingRoom 1. The panel, which performs on the title of the pizzeria, depicts an historic Greek siren and sailors, whom she lures along with her singing.
The corridor is lit by restored industrial lamps that have been beforehand utilized in our BROmarket mission, in addition to normal monitor lighting that illuminates the eating space, entrance, and different zones and components.
The branding of the pizzeria, together with the graffiti within the rest room and the inscription on the facade, was designed by artist Sasha Blagov.
Exterior
The facade of the pizzeria is roofed with perennial ivy. A classic siren sourced by the proprietor is put in underneath the title of the institution – one other reference to the title of the pizzeria.
Stainless-steel parking poles are mounted on a stable concrete porch. That is an allusion to the town’s parking reform: now you cannot park automobiles in shut proximity to the facades of buildings – this area belongs solely to pedestrians.
Sirena’s friends fell in love with the picket bench we positioned on the porch. Individuals having fun with a slice whereas having a good time is one of the best advert for a pizzeria.
The format of the pizzeria and the artistic freedom we acquired from the proprietor of Sirena enabled our crew to implement their boldest concepts. We managed to create an genuine place that match organically into its city context and shortly grew to become a beloved spot for the locals.
