The Bell Tower Design Competition invites participants to create a sustainable restaurant/bar concept that complements the iconic 14th-century bell tower at Lake Resia in Curon, Italy. The bell tower is a haunting symbol of a village submerged under Lake Reschensee in 1950 after a dam was built, making it a powerful landmark of lost history.

Designers are encouraged to bring innovation and sensitivity to this historic site, either by:

  • Adding onto the tower: Envisioning extensions or complementary structures that respect the tower’s historical architecture.
  • Proposing a floating element: Designing a unique experience that integrates with the lake environment around the tower without disturbing its setting.

Important Dates

  • Submission Deadline: December 15, 2024
  • Registration Deadline: December 10, 2024
  • Location: Italy
  • Official Language: English
