The Zimmer Frame is a fantastically designed inclusive walker for seniors by Korea-based Qolt Lab.

The “Zimmer Frame” is an ingenious inclusive walker for seniors by Korea-based Qolt Lab that effectively protects pedestrian rights while also boosting the quality of life for the elderly.

Elderly people experience difficulty walking as they age due to physical weakness, musculoskeletal system atrophy, and other factors. As a result, they are more likely to fall, with consequences posing a major threat.

“The idea of frailty with aging is a fear factor for older people, prevents them from moving freely. Limiting their rights to travel, and results in a loss in quality of life.”

Accordingly, we came up with the Zimmer Frame, a theoretical rollator that addresses these issues, explains Min-Chang Kim, co-founder of Qolt lab.

They expertly resolved the functional problems with this walking aid’s usability through an empirical user study. Therefore, verifying the form using the Design Structure Matrix (DSM) technique.

This effortlessly incorporates components including folding frameworks, adjustable seating, armrests, parking brakes, illumination, and storage areas.

According to Kim, “as for product standardization, the design was based on human sample data of Koreans aged 50 to 69 provided by the Korea Advanced Institute of Technology (KATS)”.

Its ergonomic design also aids in effective weight distribution, prevents falling, and lessens tiredness after each use. Resulting in ease of movement.

Additionally, the emotional appeal of this diverse one-of-a-kind item naturally conveys a sense of familiarity as if one is riding a vintage bicycle.
