The Brick Industry Association (BIA) has officially opened entries for the 2024 Brick in Architecture Awards. This international design competition is renowned for showcasing projects that utilize fired-clay brick, emphasizing the material’s versatility in both inspired and sustainable design.

Eligibility and Submission Guidelines

Architects and designers employed by architectural, design-build, or landscaping design firms are invited to submit projects. Eligible projects must have been completed since January 1, 2019, with clay brick comprising over 50% of the exterior building or paving material. Submissions must be made by November 1, 2024, through the awards website.

Award Categories

Projects can be submitted in one or more of the following categories:

  1. Commercial
  2. Education – K-12
  3. Education – Colleges & Universities (Higher Education)
  4. Residential – Single Family
  5. Residential – Multi-Family
  6. Thin Brick
  7. Paving & Landscape Projects
  8. Historic Renovation
  9. International

An overall Craftsmanship Award will also recognize a project for exceptional masonry work.

Judging and Exposure

The entries will be judged by peers in December, with winners announced early next year. Winning projects will gain extensive exposure through BIA’s website, social media, and other promotional channels, providing significant recognition within the architectural community.
